Hi, Bing! I am glad you brought up the story of the Malaguena song. It was not exactly based on that...but could well be the meaning that this painting would convey. I broke my own cardinal rule of not showing unfinished painting because this one is such. I am not quite done with it yet but I like the rough and loose brushwork I did on this one, I couldn't resist capturing it on camera. There is a lot of mystery and intrigue to this painting that I am now torn between leaving it as is or refining it some more. I was going to put it in an art show this weekend but I guess the paint will not dry by that time I will submit it. I think I am going to put this out in a blog and have people look at it and comment how they feel about this painting. Seriously, the figure conveys a lot of meaning, I guess different to each beholder...best regards and God bless, too! Jun

Hi Jun, I'm intrigued by this painting. Mind you, I'm no art expert, but to my untrained eye it seems that the face is divided into 2 halves, a female (with the flower in her hair) and a male (to the right side, in shadow and thus with darker & more mysterious features). Does the title refer to the song Malagueña Salerosa? It's a sad song of a man's grief from being rejected by a beautiful woman, but understanding that poverty is the reason for her rejection. Am I right, or do you have a totally different message you want to portray in this lovely painting? Take care always & God bless, Livia
