If you take the time to read the passage in the Bible, you will learn what Cleopas and the other guy did on their way to a village called Emmaus. To us, it was a parallel experience of preparing ourselves for the worship painting: we knew where we were "heading" and what we were supposed to do, but we did not know how God will work in us as we listen to Him in worship that particular evening. Our getting "there" was our own personal "Emmaus" experience. It was an amazing spiritual journey for the four of us who travelled along the way - together and then separately being spoken to by God in our hearts, just as Jesus told the two Emmaus travellers what they need to learn about the Scriptures. Our worship culminated in a bigger painting on a 18"x24" canvas board where the four of us collaborated on a singular painting to come up with The Pentecost. It was an interesting project because it will became an interactive endeavor with 4-6 year olds while I paint on what they have seen at the San Joaquin Delta on their field trip at the Calaveras levee. This is also their first time they have their art works exhibited in public by themselves. We look forward to this event as the kids are excited as we tell people to come and check out their paintings...and sell them, too!
