A Portrait and a Lady

11/11/11

I will be painting The Bella Luna at a local winery in conjunction with Lodi's First Sip Wine event, an annual wine-tasting, winery-hopping event of the Central Valley region of California.
Here's the sketch of the painting I will be doing but will finish it off on site at the Fields Family Wines on a limited time frame.  I am very excited what the final painting would look like.  The Bella Luna will be donning a Victorian outfit with some incredible hair extensions.

I will keep you all posted.

Condemned The Musical

12/13/10

My wife and I, together with our two kids, were part of the cast of the stage play CONDEMNED - The Musical (Jose Rizal and his Noli Me Tangere) when it was showcased in Stockton, CA last Dec 2-5, 2010.   Other than playing different roles for the musicale, my painting was also featured in two stage panels as part of the play's set (see New Artwork section of this website).  Thanks to  Ria Barredo-Kroff and Rob Kroff for giving us the opportunity to work with them in this play.

Thanks to all who came to the ART reception last June 12, 2010 at the Elsie May Goodwin Gallery (Stockton, CA) .  It was a great success with more than 120 people in attendance. Thanks to my wife for working hard and beautifully at the reception details, and all volunteers who helped in making the event memorable.  A lot of new faces in the crowd.  Here's a short clip of that reception:

The Emmaus Project

11/14/09

We named this artistic family endeavor as The Emmaus Project based on Luke 24:13-35. If you take the time to read the passage in the Bible, you will learn what Cleopas and the other guy did on their way to a village called Emmaus. To us, it was a parallel experience of preparing ourselves for the worship painting: we knew where we were "heading" and what we were supposed to do, but we did not know how God will work in us as we listen to Him in worship that particular evening. Our getting "there" was our own personal "Emmaus" experience. It was an amazing spiritual journey for the four of us who travelled along the way - together and then separately being spoken to by God in our hearts, just as Jesus told the two Emmaus travellers what they need to learn about the Scriptures.

Our worship culminated in a bigger painting on a 18"x24" canvas board where the four of us collaborated on a singular painting to come up with The Pentecost.

Check out the "Art Collaborations" gallery on the menu to view the paintings from this project.

A Timeless Recording

10/5/09

We came up with a what-we-call timeless recording of a slideshow last Christmas showing what we really wanted for the holidays.  Thanks to THE GIFT by Jim Brickman which served as a background inspiration to the whole slideshow.  This is just short and simple...

The DELTA Project

3/21/09

I was invited to paint a 13 feet x 10 feet mural on the culmination of the DELTA Project for the kindergarten class at Don Riggio School (where my son, Gio, attends - he is the little guy in the middle in a red shirt) last March 27, 2009.

It was an interesting project because it will became an interactive endeavor with 4-6 year olds while I paint on what they have seen at the San Joaquin Delta on their field trip at the Calaveras levee.

The mural will be used as a stage backdrop for the school play on the same theme.

Enjoyed my time with the kids!!!  Thanks to Mrs Alexander and Mrs Gong and Mrs Perdini!

ARTS aLIVE!

ARTWALK -  DOWNTOWN STOCKTON

My children (Asia and Gio) will take part in the downtown Stockton's ARTWALK opening on FRIDAY , March 14, 2008 from 5:00-7:00 pm at the downtown cinema complex.  This month's event features student art and exhibits.  Asia and Gio will be doing LIVE PAINTING in public which is a first for them.  This is also their first time they have their art works exhibited in public by themselves.

We look forward to this event as the kids are excited as we tell people to come and check out their paintings...and sell them, too! Hopefully we will get to do the PORTRAIT CHALLENGE during the three-hour event.

Now, what is the PORTRAIT CHALLENGE?  You have to come and see...

By the way, we have dubbed the event as ARTS aLIVE!

An Encouragement to Sign-In

8/9/07

Ive been amazed at the number of views on my website since it was first published last end of July, 2007. I am thankful to God for all of you who have believed in me and the gift I have in painting.
BUT alas, - I have not the slightest idea who has been to my site UNLESS you sign in my guestbook or leave your comments in my blog or in any of the paintings.

So I encourage you to go ahead and sign the guestbook, leave your footprints somewhere (i.e you can click the previously published blog entitled - "Guests and Comments - see BELOW ). Thanks again and God bless!

When you leave your comments, BE PATIENT. It will not automatically show up.  I have to approve all of your comments before posting (it is just the way how things are set up for this site).

My verse for the day is Hebrews 12:2 -

"Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross."
